Pakistan Flood 2010

Among any chief concerns on the present crisis in Pakistan is the fact that innocent children are severely at risk of health diseases. "Up to 3.5 million children are at high risk of deadly water-borne diseases, such as watery diarrhoea and dysentery," Maurizio Giuliano, spokesman for the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), is quoted as saying by the AFP news agency.

Our need to help during a time of crisis mustn't waver in ignorance; and as was the need to help Haiti, now abdicates to Pakistan. Please donate, my partner and I have, but we wish we could do more.

The Stoning of Soraya M.

The Stoning of Soraya M.

Next to the The Passion of Christ, I cannot think of another tale that has moved me more in such a way as the story of The Stoning of Soraya M.. Putting aside the polemics surrounding Christ’s crucifixion, the evidence behind the stoning of Soraya should never be disputed when especially considering the fact that stonings are still taking place around the world today. As one woman on IMDb’s forum writes, “I have been in Muslim countries where it does. I also have several friends from Iran that have spoken of the fear they lived in as women in their village, of being spoken about, of being talked about. No woman should live in fear.”(link here), there is no denying the outright brutality that still exists.

In the meanwhile, I have felt more in sorrow than in anger for humanity from watching the film, and when I am reminded of the challenge of redemption for us well-to-do individuals who still live in a well protected cossetted life, I think of Soraya and the countless women who have fallen before and after her. I hope everyone will put some time aside to view the title and/or read the book and experience the passions of Soraya.

My 30th Birthday!

More than a quarter of a decade,
more than half way past a half a century,
and physiologically enervated
passed our hallmark metabolically proficient 20s.
What more can I say?
Have a Happy beloved 30th birthday!

Haiti

My partner and I decided to donate but wish we could
do more.

This song reflects that part of us that can.
Our hearts go out to Haiti.

Thanks to all those that do carry the torch everyday, and that have donated. For others who would like to help, please do so; Haiti needs you.

Rwanda Genocide

"The Rwanda Genocide was one of worst genocides to occur in the 20th century. Taking place in 1994, hundreds of thousands of Tutsis (a Rwandan ethnic class) were killed in the small African country of Rwanda. Hopefully this five minute video may raise awareness for the usually-overlooked genocide."
Watch video here.

Meanwhile our lovely trusted governments, who we elect around the world, couldn't lend a hand but rather, would neglect the callings, cries and pleads of the victims; innocent kids and women who were turned a blind eye and a death ear. Now we have this beautiful story to tell. Learn more about this atrocity.

Sincerely,

Thank You

Herd Mentality

Herd Mentality

"Just how many centuries have we been waiting for someone else to make us free? And we refuse to see, that people overseas suffer just like we. Bad leadership and ego's unfettered and free. Who feed on the people they're supposed to lead. I don't need good people to pray and wait for the lord to make it all straight. There's only now, do it right. 'Cos I don't want your daddy, leaving home tonight."- Maxi Jazz

So true, and the worst part is, if you want to help, then do it yourself, but don't pester me about it, or at least that's the herd mentality these days.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd_mentality

Which begs the question, are people really waiting for someone else to make us free, or have we just stopped caring about such things? I think it's the latter; in this mindless modern world, there's no room for helping others when we can enjoy taking a shit in our bathrooms instead of in the desert - out in the open among the swarming flies.
